AARADHANA

Veena and Varun are classmates at college and they are neighbours too. Veena’s father is an Assistant Commissioner and serves an important role in the police force. The very instant he wears the police uniform he becomes an embodiment of honesty and strictness. At the same time, the moment he gets out of his uniform, he becomes the most caring and kind family man.

Veena’s mother Savithri is hell bent upon getting her daughter married off at the earliest and hence she has passed on her daughter’s horoscope to as many brokers as possible. However Veena has been turning down every proposal by telling the groom that she is madly in love with the boy who lives next door.

In reality it is just plain friendship that exists between Veena and Varun. Whenever Varun gets to know about this he would warn her but Veena would just tell him that she wants to continue higher studies and therefore she is just using him to make things favorable for her. Varun has no other go than to remain silent in such circumstances.

Yogi is Varun’s friend from college. His parents live in a village and he has rented out a room and lives in the city. Yogi yearns to get married to a rich girl and get settled in life. Since his neighbour Meghna who lives opposite his house matches all his requirements, he is madly in love with her; however it is just one sided love.

Meghna’s father is not just an affluent man; he is also the dada of that area. His name Quarry Kanaga Reddy would suffice to terrify even the high and mighty. This fear is the prime reason for Yogi not letting Meghna know about his love and is precisely why his love is still a one sided one.

Suresh is also one of the students in that college. His elder brother Ganesh’s only dream is to make his brother study well and make him a successful man. While Suresh believes that his brother is in a respectable position in a reputed company, he is shocked when one day he finds his brother as a local area rowdy on the streets. When Suresh accosts Ganesh and questions about this when they are alone, Ganesh tells him that due to some circumstances he was forced to work as a goonda for Quarry Kanaga Reddy and he also tells Suresh not to mention about this to their mother.

Radha another students in the college is the embodiment of unhappiness. Her family consists of her mother and a younger sister only. Radha’s mother Padmavathi is sustaining the family and providing for Radha’s studies by being a mistress to a rich affluent man Jalapadhi Rajivan. Radha’s state becomes pitiable when the rich man Jalapadhi Rajivan starts lusting after her too.

To make things worse for her, Suresh keeps torturing her often saying that he loves her. While Radha keeps him at bay, at one juncture Suresh tries to cross borders simply because his brother is a rowdy and she files a complaint at the police station. Veena’s father Rama Rao warns him. Suresh takes it as a huge insult and wishes to take revenge on Radha for what she has done. Suresh’s friends egg him on to take revenge and when Radha is unaware, Suresh pours acid on her.

Just like her face even her future gets destroyed and Suresh is arrested. Ganesh wishes to save Suresh from the dire circumstances and therefore he approaches Quarry Kanaga Reddy who arranges for a popular lawyer to deal with the case. The lawyer blames Radha’s family by speaking ill of them, their character etc and cleverly nullifies the case against Suresh and brings him out on bail. While Suresh returns home jubilantly along with his brother, a major shock awaits him.

Radha with her half charred face is living in his house as Ganesh’s wife. While Suresh is shell shocked, Ganesh tells him that he has given life to a woman who had been wronged by him. From now Radha is his sister-in-law and that daily Suresh has to regret for his grave mistake and suffer in repentance. Ganesh tells him that this is the punishment he wishes to give him and saying this he leaves. Suresh slowly starts realizing the mistake he has committed and gradually starts changing for good.

Meanwhile Varun visits Yogi in his room often. At that time, Varun gets to meet Meghna there. Meghna who had no feelings for Yogi loses her heart to Varun. Varun in turn falls in love with Meghna and Yogi who had been a true friend all this while changes into an enemy as he tries to separate their love.

Meanwhile Veena who had just been a good friend to Varun on hearing his love for Meghna gets smitten by jealousy and starts loving him unsparingly. Veena plans to separate Meghna and Varun by all means and wishes to get married to him. Not knowing about the opposition Varun and Meghna are facing from both ends, their love keeps growing. Meanwhile Yogi informs Meghna’s father Kanaga Reddy about their love through an anonymous letter.

Kanaga Reddy gets furious and wants to get even with Varun. He gets friendly with the police and files a false case of drug dealing upon Varun and gets him arrested. Meghna realizes her father’s scheme and she begs him to release Varun while promising that she will forget Varun for good.

Varun gets released and Meghna is packed off to another city. Varun who is unable to overcome thoughts about Meghna goes in search of her. He meets her and they elope together. While Varun plans to get married to Meghna in a temple, Veena who comes to know of this plan she purposely informs Kanaga Reddy and prevents the marriage from happening. Kanaga Reddy beats Varun black and blue and leaves with his daughter Meghna. Since Varun is devastated, Veena tries to act concerned towards him and gradually gets him to love her. At one point Varun also gets to terms with reality and gets married to Veena. Only after this does Varun come to know that it was Veena who had been the cause for his separation from Meghna. Varun who is shocked knowing this slowly tries to separate himself from Veena.
